It can take up to two hours to fully charge a DualShock 4 controller, so it's best to save battery each time you can. You can configure your PlayStation 4 to automatically turn off the wireless controllers if they remain idle for certain period of time. The procedure is as follows:
Go to the Settings menu > Power Save Settings > Turn off DUALSHOCK4 Automatically. Choose after how much time (10 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour) your console will automatically turn off the controller.
