You can set your PlayStation 4 to automatically shut down after a prolonged period of inactivity. The procedure is as follows:
Go to the Settings menu > Power Save Settings > Set Time Until PS4 Turns Off. Select the General (Games) option and then select after how much idle time your PlayStation 4 goes off: After 1 Hour, After 2 Hours,After 3 Hours, After 4 Hours or After 5 Hours. And don't worry about losing unsaved data or game progression; if you have something running on your console (download, games, apps, update...), then it will automatically switch to Standby mode (instead of turning off). You wouldn't want your PlayStation 4 to turns off while you are watching a movie. Go back to theSet Time Until PS4 Turns Off screen and then select Media Playback. Auto shutdown settings from media playback can be adjusted separately, set it to 2 - 3 hours:
